One of the two autonomous regions and the second richest region in Portugal (after Lisbon), Madeira (Islands of Eternal Spring) is located in the outermost region of the European Union, in the north of Atlantic Ocean nearly 400 km north of Canary Islands. Madeira is visited by nearly one million tourists every year as it is a year-round resort, famous for its beautiful landscapes, exotic flowers, wine (Madeira Wine), largest fireworks show in the world and top class embroidery artisans. Madeira cuisine is totally influenced by Portugese cuisine and closely related to Mediterranean cuisine. Madeira cuisine uses a lot of spices, olive oil, garlic and herbs. What to do in Madeira

Funchal: Located to the south of Madeira, the capital and the biggest city of Madeira, Funchal is arguably the cleanest and the most picturesque capital city in the world. Home to the legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, Funchal is indeed a gem of a city. Funchal by day is an extremely lush, green and relaxed city but a totally different city by night with its multiple personalities and varied nightlife scene. Funchal, with its gorgeous panoramas, offers its visitors many activities such as diving, surfing, boating and boat rides, paragliding, trekking, horse riding, swimming in the crystal clear waters, playing golf on one of its famous Golf Courses. It is a totally crime free city and a paradise in the world. It has been one of the main ports for the cruise ships for many years. Ponta de Sao Lourenco (Beautiful Views/ Wildlife Area), Monte Cable Car, Monte Palace Tropical Garden (Garden), Quinta do Boa Vista (Garden), Palheiro Golf (Golf Course) is arguably the top 5 out of 22 worth visiting places in and around Funchal.

Camara da Lobos: Located in the southcentral coast of the island of Madeira, Camara da Lobos is the second biggest municipality (after Funchal) in Madeira. San Sebastian Church, Girao Cape (awesome views, an important place of local pilgrimage), Faja dos Padres (awesome views, cultivated area), New Promenade Area, Camara do Lobos Harbour Area is arguably the top 5 out of 15 worth visiting places in and around Camara da Lobos.

Santa Cruz: Located in the eastern part of Madeira, Santa Cruz is the third biggest municipality (after Funchal and Camara de Lobos) in Madeira. Santa Cruz Port, Agonnis Avetura (Sports Camps), 3S Santa Cruz Surf School (Surf Camps), Albatroz Beach and Yacht Club, Bussola Radical (Tours) is the top 5 out major attractions in and around Santa Cruz.

Machico: Located in the northeastern part of the island of Madeira, Machico is a beautiful city with many public beaches, orchards and vegetable gardens. Machico has a special place in history as this was the landing point of Goncalves Zarco and Tristao Vaz Teixeira (official discoverers of Madeira). Madeira Whale Museum, Levada do Castelejo (Trekking/Trails), Authia Diving Center (Water Sports) is arguably the top 3 out of 7 worth visiting places in and around Machico. Machico offers some of the best beaches in Madeira.
